FRANCE-JUSTICE-HEALTH-IMPLANTS-PIP-FRAUD-TRIAL
Poly Implant Prothese (PIP) company director Claude Couty leaves the courthouse on May 15, 2013, at the Parc Chanot in Marseille, southern France, during the trial of five managers of the French company Poly Implant Prothese (PIP), including founder Jean-Claude Mas, who face fraud charges for allegedly selling faulty breast implants that sparked global health fears. PIP company was shut down on March 2010 and its product banned after it was revealed to have been using non-authorised silicone gel that caused abnormally high rupture rates in its implants. Prosecutors urged a four-year sentence for the faulty breast implant firm founder. AFP PHOTO / GERARD JULIEN
