NEPAL-CHILDREN-SOCITY-PROTEST
Nepalese formerly indentured child labourers, kamlaris, cry as they protest against the government in Kathmandu on June 4, 2013. Hundreds of former indentured child labourers have staged protests across Nepal demanding an end to the enslavement of children in the 'kamlari' tradition, activists said Tuesday. During a winter festival in western Nepal, parents make verbal contracts with middle-men, and sell their daughters for 4,000 - 6,000 rupees ($50-75) into a lifetime of servitude, known as the 'kamlari' tradition.
