US-ECONOMY-POLITICS-BUSINESS-MCNERNEY-FILES

Chief executives of top US companies are slightly more upbeat about the nation's economic outlook but say political uncertainties are cramping growth, according to a survey released June 11, 2013. The Business Roundtable's second-quarter 2013 CEO Economic Outlook Survey showed the business leaders expect a minor improvement in economic output over the next six months, with modestly brighter expectations for sales and hiring offsetting a decline in capital investment. CEOs expected the economy to grow at a 2.2 percent pace, edging up from 2.1 percent seen in the first-quarter survey, said the pro-business lobby. "Overall, CEOs see the US economy still on a slow road to recovery," said McNerney. AFP PHOTO / JIM WATSON / FILES
