French reporter Herve Ghesquiere, who was held hostage in Afghanistan for 18 months, (C) speaks next to Paris' deputy mayor and socialist candidate to the 2014 municipal elections in Paris Anne Hidalgo (R) in front of the Paris City Hall during a gathering in support of the four French hostages kidnapped in 2010 in the northern Niger town of Arlit to mark their 1000-day captivity on June 22, 2013. The four French nationals -- Pierre Legrand, Daniel Larribe, Thierry Dol and Marc Ferret -- were kidnapped on September 16, 2010, by Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) from the uranium mining town of Arlit, while working for Satom, a subsidiary of the French nuclear group Areva.
