TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY W.G. DUNLOP
Workers chip away at the concrete laid as the plinth for a the Lion of Babylon, at the ancient archaeological site of Babylon, south of Baghdad, that was put in place during its renovation under Iraq's former dictator Saddam Hussein's rule on May 19, 2013. An American non-governmental organisation is attempting to restore the ancient city, that was once one of the seven wonders of the world, after it was damaged during the war in Iraq and by the construction of Saddam Hussien, to renew its place in the heritage of humanity.
