PERU-ARCHAEOLOGY-EL CASTILLO


A skeleton belonging to a woman from the Wari empire discovered at El Castillo de Huarmey site, 299 km north from Lima is being measured by an archaeologist on June 27, 2013 in Lima. Peru's Minister of Culture announced the discovery of the first unlooted Wari imperial tomb by a team of Polish and Peruvian researchers. In all, the archaeological team has found the remains of three Wari queens gold pieces, ceramics and 63 skeletons about 1,300 years old. AFP PHOTO/ERNESTO BENAVIDES
