SWITZERLAND-VATICAN-RELIGION-CATHOLIC-SCHISM
New priests attend on June 28, 2013 an ordination mass of the breakaway fundamentalist Roman Catholic Society of St Pius X in Econe, western Switzerland. This year, nine fundamentalist priests were inducted by the society. Some 2,000 worshippers attended the ceremony held under a giant tent outside the chapel in Econe, which was celebrated mostly in Latin. Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, the founder of the Society of St Pius X, consecrated the bishops of his order in 1988. He broke away from the Catholic Church in 1970 in protest at reforms passed by the Second Vatican Council in the 1960s. AFP PHOTO / FABRICE COFFRINI
