SENEGAL-CHAD-HABRE-WARCRIMES-FILES

(FILES) Hissene Habre, then leader of the Northern Army Forces, inspects his troops at the Ouadi Barrid Headquarters, in the Biltine eastern region of Chad, on March 10, 1981. The Ex-Chad dictator Hissene Habre has been charged with rights abuses, and remanded, judicial sources announced on July 2, 2013 in Dakar. Hissene Habre earlier appeared in court after his arrest in Senegal by investigators seeking to put him on trial for crimes against humanity. Habre -- once dubbed "Africa's Pinochet" -- also faces accusations of war crimes and torture during his eight years in power in Chad, where rights groups say 40,000 people were killed under his rule.
