AUSTRALIA-SCIENCE-ANIMAL-TOAD-ENVIRONMENT-FILES
(FILES) This combination of file pictures taken on April 26, 2005 shows (L) a poisonous cane toad sitting on a keeper's hand at the Taronga Zoo in Sydney and a handout photo from the Charles Darwin Museum taken in August 2006, and (R) received on July 3, 2013 showing a fully grown adult male dwarf crocodile, around 1.4 m total length, in the Bullo River in Australia's Northern Territory. Australia's noxious cane toad is wiping out populations of a unique miniature crocodile, researchers warned on July 3, 2013, with fears the warty, toxic creature could extinguish the rare creature. A team from Charles Darwin University studying the impacts of the foul toad in upstream escarpments found "significant declines" in numbers of dwarf freshwater crocodiles after the amphibians' arrival.
