FRANCE-AGRICULTURE-GOVERNEMENT-LARZAC
French anti-globalisation activist Jose Bove (C), EELV member, vice-President of the Agriculture Committee at the European Parliament, signs with French Agriculture Minister (unseen) on July 18, 2013, in La Cavalerie, southern France, the extension lease that will allow Larzac farmers to continue working the 6,300 ha land in the Larzac area belonging to French state, until 2083. These lands, provided for the extension of the military camp in 1971, were the issue of a battle that lasted 10 years, led first by a hundred farmers, later joined by tens of thousands of young activists seeing it as a symbol of the struggle against militarism and capitalism.
