US-JACKIE-ROBINSON-STATUE-DEFACED-BY-RACIAL-SLURS-IS-RESTORED
NEW YORK, NY - AUGUST 09: A statue of Pee Wee Reese (L) and Jackie Robinson, stands after being cleaned of racist graffiti on August 9, 2013 in the Coney Island neighborhood of the Brooklyn borough of New York City. Robinson broke the color barrier for Major League Baseball in 1947 when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers and Reese was a teammate and supporter. The statue, which was unveiled in 2005, was recently defaced with racist graffitti and the city recently finished restoring the statue using sandblasting and powerwashing to remove the graffiti.
