ZIMBABWE-VOTE-POLITICS
Mourners react on August 14, 2008 during the burial in Harare of Rebecca Mafikeni, a party activist of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) lead by Zimbabwe opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai. Mafikeni died in custody last week after she was arrested with 28 others in 2011 over the death of a police officer as riot police broke up an MDC rally. Tsvangirai said today veteran President Robert Mugabe sought talks with him after disputed elections last month which extended Mugabe's rule. Tsvangirai ruled out new talks with Mugabe saying he wants a re-run of the July 31 general elections which he has condemned as a "farce."
