NETHERLANDS-ART-CRIME-THEFT-SOTHEBYS
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY NICOLAS DELAUNAY
A picture taken on March 22, 2013 shows Director Rick Vercauteren posing next to the forced door of the museum Van Bommel Van Dam in Venlo, southeastern Netherlands. "R69-32", a white rectangular work sculpted in 1969 by Dutch contemporary artist Jan Schoonhoven, consisting of blocks filled with triangles made of paper-mache, disappeared from the museum in March. Today, Dutch police are investigating and questions are being asked how the modern art relief managed to slip through the net of a carefully managed system to end up on a London auction block.
