Syrian families driving their vehicles loaded with mattresses and suitcases undergo security checks as they cross the Masnaa border post between Syria and Lebanon on August 31, 2013. As UN inspectors crossed the border from Syria into Lebanon, they were followed out of the war-torn country by a continuous flow of families desperate to flee the threat of US strikes.
