PERU-JUSTICE-JAIL-ANCON
Female inmates participate in a handcraft workshop at the Ancon 2 prison, part of the Piedras Gordas Model Penitentiary complex, about 12 km north of Lima, on August 29, 2013. The Peruvian National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) has developed a teaching-working system for men and women inmates in this high security installation. Held in single cells, those inmates who choose not to study or work are moved to lesser equipped jails under traditional regulations.
