Gil Kerlikowske, Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, addresses the results of the "National Survey on Drug Use and Health" at a press conference September 4, 2013 in Washington, DC. The survey's results indicate a significant increase in the usage of heroin from 373,000 users in 2007 to 669,000 in 2012. Marijuana continues to be the most commonly used illicit drug, though usage by teens has shown a decline in the past year.
