SOMALIA-EU FORCE-PIRACY
A Dutch amphibious assault warship of the EU Naval Force patrols on September 5, 2013 off the coast of Mogadishu. The role of the EU Naval Force is to thwart any potential pirate attacks in the region. The EU Operation "Atlanta" has deployed between five and 10 warships off the Somali coast since 2008 to escort humanitarian aid shipments and thwart pirate raids on commercial vessels using the busy sea route.
