RUSSIA-G20-SUMMIT
In this image released by the UN, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon (C-L) attends a meeting on the humanitarian situation in Syria, chaired by British Prime Minister David Cameron (C-R). The meeting was held on the margins of the G20 summit in St. Petersburg. Ban warned that “Ill-considered military action could cause serious and tragic consequences, with an increased threat of further sectarian violence.” Insisting that “we should explore ways to avoid further militarization of the conflict and revitalize the search for a political settlement instead,” he called for renewed efforts to rapidly convene the Geneva conference for Syria as soon as possible. Also attending the meeting was Lakhdar Brahimi (2nd L), Joint Special Representative of the UN and the League of Arab States for Syria. == RESTRICTED TO EDITORIAL USE / MANDATORY CREDIT: AFP PHOTO / UNITED NATIONS / ESKINDER DEBEBE / NO SALES / NO MARKETING / NO ADVERTISING CAMPAIGNS / DISTRIBUTED AS A SERVICE TO CLIENTS ==
