ARGENTINA-CONDORS-RELEASE
Buenos Aires Zoo personnel takes a condor to be released in Sierra Paileman, Rio Negro province, Argentina on September 8, 2013. This was one step closer to fulfilling the dream of the condor returning to be the lord of the skies in the coastal area of Rio Negro and representatives of indigenous cultures had a significant role in the liberation ceremony. What at first glance may appear to the eyes of many as a simple conservationist activity is actually the result of the perfect mix between ecology, mysticism, culture and religion of the native peoples who for thousands of years worshiped the condor as the quintessential sacred bird.
