SWITZERLAND-VOTE-ISLAM-VEIL-DEMO
A picture taken in Lugano shows flyers made by the Islamic Central Council of Switzerland (ICCS - CCIS) against an upcoming cantonal vote on banning face-covering headgear in public places on September 18, 2013. Ticino will become on September 22 the first Swiss canton to hold a so-called "anti-burqa" referendum. Although the initiative does not explicitly target Muslims--the phrasing to be voted on is "nobody in public streets or squares may veil or hide their face"--it is directed against the burqas and niqabs.
