NETHERLANDS-RUSSIA-OIL-ENERGY-ENVIRONMENT-PROTEST-GREENPEACE

Dutch Greenpeace director Sylvia Borren (R) keeps a solidarity action outside the Russian Embassy in The Hague, The Netherlands, on September 24, 2013. Russian border guards stormed the ship Arctic Sunrise after Greenpeace activists scaled ‘Prirazlomnaya’ oil platform to protest against planned drilling on the Arctic shelf. Since then, the organization has had no contact with the protesters and there is no clarity about the indictment. Russia's powerful Investigative Committee on September 24 opened a piracy probe over a Greenpeace protest against the Arctic oil activities of the energy giant Gazprom, saying Russian and foreign activists involved would be all prosecuted.
