DENMARK-HISTORY-WWII-JEWS
Volunteers work on some of 700 lights being part of an art installation by light artist Flemming Brantbjerg on the island of Peberholm, Denmark, on October 1, 2013. Along with the Oeresunds bridge emergency lights, the network of light bulbs build a bridge of lights between Denmark and Sweden in memory of the Jews fleeing to Sweden across the Sound in October 1943, exactly 70 years ago. As Denmark commemorates the heroic rescue of the vast majority of its Jewish population during World War II, the country faces thorny questions over its relationship with Nazi Germany.
