PERU-PALAEONTOLOGY


Picture released by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture on September 2, 2013, showing fossil traces dated 135 million years ago from fish belonging to the Lower Cretaceous Era. The marine specimen fossils, about 3 to 4 inches each, lived during the Hauterivian geological epoch and were recovered from an outcrop of the Pamplona sedimentary shale formation in the Cerro San Francisco area in the Lima district of Surco.
