SPAIN-FINANCE-PUBLIC-DEBT-HOUSING
Activists of the PAH (the Platform of People Affected by Mortgage) occupy a block of flats owned by SAREB to protest against the evictions of its residents, in Salt, near Girona, on October 15, 2013. Forty-three people will be evicted of the building "Bloc Salt" owned by bad bank Sareb on October 16. Spain set up Sareb, a "bad bank", to buy bad assets from lenders and sell them for a profit after the euro zone agreed to finance a rescue of Spain's banks, swamped in bad loans since a property bubble imploded in 2008 plunging the country into a double-dip recession.
