BRAZIL-MUSIC-JUSTICE-BIOGRAPHY
Composition made with file pictures of Brazilian musicians (L-R) Gilberto Gil performing during a rehearsal in Paris on April 5, 2008; Roberto Carlos performing during the 52nd Vina del Mar International Song Festival in Vina del Mar, Chile, on February 21, 2011; Djavan arriving at the first annual Latin Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, US, on September 13, 2000; Milton Nascimento performing in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on August 3, 2012; Chico Buarque posing during the presentation of his third book 'Budapest', in Barcelona, Spain, on May 23, 2005 and Caetano Veloso performing in Lyon, France, on July 27, 2003. Famous Brazilian songwriters -- long activists for freedom of expression -- are themselves coming under fire as they fight an attempt to overturn a law allowing celebrities to veto unauthorized biographies. On October 14, 2013 Supreme Court chief Joaquim Barbosa defended the publication of unauthorized biographies of famous people. The debate emerged when the well-known musicians, including Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Chico Buarque and others, spoke out against an initiative by book publishers to have the law declared unconstitutional.
