Princess Astrid (R) of Belgium has an aspect of the bridge of the new South African Antarctic research ship, the SAS Agulhas II, explained to her by the ship's captain, Gavin Syndercombe(L), during a visit to the ship in Cape Town harbour on October 25, 2013. Princess Astrid is heading a high-level economic mission to South Africa. Part of this event is to enhance collaboration between the South African National Antarctic Program (SANAP) and the International Polar Foundation (IPF). Astrid's brother, King Philippe of Belgium, is honorary president of the IPF. This ship is dedicated to South African singer, Miriam Makeba. AFP PHOTO / RODGER BOSCH
