(FILES) - Picture taken on July 6, 2004 shows Rudolf August Oetker, the founder of a multi-billion-euro food empire and one of the richest men in Germany, during a press conference in Bielefeld, western Germany. Nearly 70 years after the end of World War II , the examination of German companies during the dark years of Nazism is far from over and remains a controversial or painful exercise. The lastest example, Dr. Oetker , famous manufacturer of frozen pizzas and pudding, presented last week the research of three historians on the attitude of the company and its leaders under Nazism. "there was not the thickness of a cigarette paper between the regime and Oetker "summarized Andreas Wirsching, a historian at the University of Munich and co-author of the book "Dr. Oetker and national Socialism, the story of a family busines".
