THAILAND-UNREST-SOUTH-MILITARY
TO GO WITH Thailand-unrest-south-military,FEATURE by Aidan JONES
This picture taken on September 19, 2013 shows the sister (R) and cousin of Lookman and Samree Dueramae - brothers aged 20 and 17, who were shot dead in April 19, 2012 along with their neighbour and childhood friend in a police raid in a rubber plantation in Krong Pinang district, in Thailand's southern province of Yala, pictured at home in a village of Krong Pinang district. The deaths of three students, shot as they ran from police, have reignited allegations of impunity in Thailand's deep south where activists say justice continues to elude civilians after a near-decade of war. Most of the 5,700 people killed since conflict erupted in 2004 have been civilians, either caught in rebel attacks and assassinations or raids by security forces. Chillingly, campaigners say there is also mounting evidence of a rise in extra-judicial murders of rebel suspects. AFP PHOTO/Christophe ARCHAMBAULT
