FRANCE-CHAD-CHILDREN-COURT
The logistics chief of the foiled operation of French charity Arche de Zoe (Zoe's Ark), Alain Peligat (L), speaks with his lawyer Valerie Lorenzi on November 20, 2013 before his appeal trial in Paris. Peligat was given on February 12 a suspended prison sentence of six months for his role in the 2007 attempt to abduct 103 children from Chad. Chadian authorities on October 27, 2007, put an end to an operation in which Arche de Zoe planned to fly the children out of Abache airport in eastern Chad, on the grounds that they were orphans from war-torn Darfur in Sudan across the border.
