CHAD-FRANCE-CRIME-CHILDREN-TRIAL-FILES

(FILES) This picture taken on November 14, 2007 shows some of the 103 children, who were nearly abducted by a French charity, at an orphanage in the eastern Chadian town of Abeche, where they have been placed for the last two weeks by Chadian justice after the arrest of members of the Zoe's Ark charity at the Chadian-Sudanese border. The appeal trial of Eric Breteau, the founder of the French charity Arche de Zoe (Zoe's Ark), and his partner Emilie Lelouch began on November 20, 2013 in Paris. Lelouch was sentenced on February 12 to a three-year jail term, one year of which was suspended, notably on conviction of fraud for her role in the 2007 attempt to abduct 103 children from Chad. Chadian authorities on October 27, 2007, put an end to an operation in which Arche de Zoe planned to fly the children out of Abache airport in eastern Chad, on the grounds that they were orphans from war-torn Darfur in Sudan across the border.
