US-POLITICS-OBAMA-TREE
First Lady Michelle Obama (R) with dog Sunny, daughters Malia (with dog Bo) and Sasha (R), welcome the Official White House Christmas Tree to the White House November 29, 2013 in front of the assembled media in Washington, DC. The First Lady was presented the Blue Room tree by the Botek family (L), growers of this year’s tree, and the Wyckoff family (C), winners of the National Christmas Tree Association’s (NCTA) National Christmas Tree contest. This year’s White House Christmas Tree, which will be on display in the Blue Room, is an 18.5-foot Douglas Fir grown by Chris Botek, a second generation Christmas Tree Farmer from Crystal Spring Tree Farm in Lehighton, Pennsylvania. The Wyckoff farm has been family owned for six generations, since 1839, and this year four trees from the farm will be featured throughout the White House during the holiday season.
