NKOREA-RIGHTS-PRISON-AMNESTY
This combination of two handout satellite images released by Digital Globe via Amnesty International on December 5, 2013 show political prison camp (Kwanliso) 16, or Camp 16, taken on 11 June 2010 (top) and 18 November 2012. The images show further investment in and maintenance of production facilities, focused on mining, agriculture and logging. The 2010 satellite image captures the construction of a new facility within Kwanliso 16. In the image further below from November 2012, the industrial facility appears to be operational and new support buildings are visible. Satellite images of one of North Korea's largest political prison camps suggests its inmate population is expanding, Amnesty International said on December 5, 2013 in a report detailing rape and torture in the North's notorious gulag.
