FRANCE-TRANSPORT-HERITAGE-LOCOMOTIVE-OFFBEAT
A locomotive Pacific 231 E 41, an historic monument, is transferred by truck on December 5, 2013 from its exhibition area in Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, near Tours, central France, to a former Royal Air Force warehouse in the same town, for its restauration by an association of old locomotives fans. Built in 1938 in the northern city of Calais, the train, one of two last Pacific locomotives in the world, linked Paris to London. The registration 231 E 41 means 2 axles, 3 motors axles and 1 carrier axle. The E series was the most advanced technically. Finally, 41, because it was the 41st Pacific locomotive of this series.
