Thirteen people, including a three-year-old boy, were wounded when gunmen opened fire on a crowd gathered at the basketball courts in Cornell Square Park in September. Twenty children and 6 adults were killed when a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook School. Hadiya was shot and killed while hanging out with friends in a park after school on January 29, 2013, one week after performing at President Barack Obamas second inauguration.
