(FILES) In this photograph taken on December 23, 2012, Indian demonstrators charge the riot police line as authorities unleash water cannon during a protest calling for better safety for women following the rape of a student, in front of the India Gate monument in New Delhi. India erupted in protest following the fatal gang-rape of a 23-year-old physiotherapy student on December 16, 2102. The student, set upon in New Delhi while she was on a bus home from the cinema with a male friend, died two weeks later from her injuries, some of them inflicted with an iron rod.
