FRANCE-ALGERIA-DIPLOMACY-CRIF-FILES
(FILES) A picture taken on December 16, 2013 at the Elysee Palace in Paris, shows French President Francois Hollande speaking during a ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the Representative Council of France's Jewish Associations (CRIF). France played down on December 22, 2013 a diplomatic row with Algeria over a joke made by President Francois Hollande that suggested the north African country was unsafe. During a speech last week to the CRIF Jewish representative group, Hollande joked that Interior Minister Manuel Valls had just returned "safe and sound" from a trip to Algeria. "That's already a lot," Hollande added. AFP PHOTO / POOL / PHILIPPE WOJAZER
