BASEBALL-US-YANKEES-DOPING-RODRIGUEZ-FILES
(FILES) Infielder Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees fields a second inning ground ball against the Tampa Bay Rays during the game at Tropicana Field in this August 24, 2013, file photo in St. Petersburg, Florida. Rodriguez was given a 162-game doping ban on january 11, 2014 by an arbitrator, suspending the controversial star for the entire 2014 Major League Baseball season. Major League Baseball announced that Fredric Horowitz had upheld most of the 211-game ban imposed upon Rodriguez last August and that the suspension would also prevent Rodriguez from competing in the 2014 playoffs should the Yankees qualify. The suspension is still the longest in the history of Major League Baseball and will cost Rodriguez $25 million in salary that he would have made with the Yankees. Rodriguez would be 39 when he would be able to return to Major League Baseball in 2015. Rodriguez was banned last August for taking performance-enhancing drugs including testosterone and human growth hormone. J.
