SPAIN-CULTURE-MUSIC-OPERA-MARIANO-FILES
(FILES) This photo taken on October 4, 1956, shows Spanish operetta singer Luis Mariano singing alongside Spanish singer and dancer Paquita Rico during a performance of a scene of the "To Jamaica" operetta, filmed in the studios of Saint-Maurice. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Spanish Basque tenor singer Luis Mariano (Mariano Eusebio Gonzalez y García by his real name) who was born in Irun, Spain, on August 13, 1914, and died on July 14, 1970 in Paris. A new show and a record in France, an exhibition and soon a museum in his home town of Irun in Spain have honored the "prince of the operetta" Luis Mariano on the 100th anniversary of his birth.
