NORWAY-FIRE-TOURISM-CORRECTION

Smoke rises off the site where a fire destroyed many of the famed 18th- and 19th-century wooden houses in the village Laerdal, southern Norway, on January 19, 2014. According to the loal police the fire began overnight in a house in Laerdalsoyri, a village of 1,150 people in Laerdal, on Sognefjord fjord, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. More than 50 people were admitted to the hospital and some 300 residents were evacuated from the area, media reports said. The inferno has partially or completely ruined "15 to 30 buildings" in the town, according to a police statement.
