FRANCE-TURKEY-JUSTICE
Turkish sociologist Pinar Selek attends a press conference on January 20, 2014 in Strasbourg, eastern France. Turkey’s Justice Ministry has applied to French authorities to request Selek’s extradition to Turkey, Cihan news agency reported on December 29, 2013. Selek, a feminist scholar who resides in Strasbourg, was convicted of bombing Istanbul’s famous Spice Bazaar in 1998 and sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment last January, despite being acquitted of the same charge three times in the past.
