SPACE-ASTRONOMY-ASTEROID-CERES
A picture released by the European Space Agency (ESA) / ATG MEDIALAB on January 22, 2014 shows an artist’s impression of Ceres, a tiny planet in the asteroid belt which spouts water vapour, a finding that strengthens theories that life on Earth was kickstarted by a bombardment of space rocks, scientists said January 22. Observations by European Space Agancy’s Herschel space observatory between 2011 and 2013 find that the "dwarf planet" has a thin water-vapour atmosphere. The inset shows the water absorption signal detected by Herschel on October 11, 2012. AFP PHOTO / ESA / ATG MEDIALAB
