NEPAL-LABOUR-PORTER
In this photograph taken on December 10, 2013 Nepalese porter Cheetra Bahadur Karki (70) uses a head strap to carry a gas cylinder in Kathmandu. Karki, who has worked as a porter in the capital Kathmandu for 33 years, delivers goods from gas cylinders to computers, all strapped to his forehead, and earns 60 cents per load. Nepal is home to tens of thousands of porters, working in the mountains and urban centers and in recent years porters have campaigned for higher rates of pay, forming the first porters' union in the country in 2005. Many porters suffer from crippling back pain and develop a permanent hunch as a result of their work. AFP PHOTO/Prakash MATHEMA
