FRANCE-BRITAIN-FASHION-QUANT-FILES
TO GO WITH AFP STORY BY CAROLINE TAIX
British stylist Mary Quant shows a model wearing one of her clothes, 17 June 2004 in Paris. Quant introduced both the mini skirt and tights, which replaced stockings and suspender belts. In 1965, Quant was described as the "major fashion force in the world outside Paris", and in June 1966 she was awarded an OBE by Queen Elizabeth and made a member of the Order of the British Empire. The creator of the mini-skirt, British designer Mary Quant, turns 80 on February 11, 2014 still brimming with enthusiasm for fashion and women's rights. AFP PHOTO PIERRE VERDY
