US-FRANCE-DIPLOMACY-FILES
(FILES) File photo dated February 1, 1996 shows US President Bill Clinton (L) watching French President Jacques Chirac delivering a speech during arrival ceremonies on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, DC. Chirac addressed a joint session of Congress later in the day during which he underscored the importance of increasing the assistance to developing countries. Chirac crossed the Atlantic 12 times during his presidential mandate, more than any other French leader so far. Current French President François Hollande arrives in the United States for a state visit February 10, 2014. He'll visit Monticello, Virginia, Washington, DC and San Francisco, California in three days. Hollande follows in the tracks of his predecessors Charles De Gaulle (April 1960), Georges Pompidou (February 1970), Valery Giscard d'Estaing (May 1976), Francois Mitterrand (March 1984), Jacques Chirac (January 1996), and Nicolas Sarkozy (November 2007).
