JAPAN-POLITICS-TOKYO-ELECTION
Former health minister Yoichi Masuzoe smiles as he speaks to reporters in Tokyo on February 10, 2014, one day after he won the Tokyo gubernatorial election. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on February 10, welcomed the election of a conservative governor of Tokyo in a result analysts say will help boost Abe's economic reform agenda and reinforce his drive to restart Japan's nuclear reactors. Backed by Abe's ruling coalition, Masuzoe -- a former television pundit and one-time cabinet minister -- was an easy winner on February 9 ahead of 15 rivals, including a former premier campaigning for an end to atomic power.
