View of trucks as expansion works were halted at the Panama Canal, in Colon, 100 km from Panama City, on February 12, 2014. The Canal administration announced Wednesday that there are parcial agreements with the Grupo Unidos por el Canal (GUPC) consortium, which is in charge of the expansion. The works would now finish on December, 2015. Negotiations over who should pay for extra costs for upgrading the Panama Canal had collapsed, putting the project and up to 10,000 jobs at risk, Spanish company Sacyr, which is leading the works had announced.
