FRANCE-REUNION-CREUSE-RESETTLEMENT
Jean-Jacques Martial stands on February 18, 2014 outside the National Assembly in Paris, on the day the Parliament is to debate a bill aimed at recognising France's responsibility for the re-settlement of 1,600 children from the Indian Ocean island of La Reunion to mainland France. Martial was the first re-settled child to lodge a case against the French state for "Deportation". France's government tried to re-populate its emptying countryside between 1963 and 1982 by a policy of forced adoptions from the Indian Ocean island of Reunion. AFP PHOTO / ERIC FEFERBERG
