SPAIN-COMPANY-LABOUR-PROTEST
An employee of Iberian Partners, the sole bottler of Coca-Cola in Spain, holds a pamphlet saying, "Dont' drink Coca Cola. 920.000.000 Euro profits equals 1,253 families in the street 3,000 jobs indirectly to the street" on February 20, 2014 in Madrid during a demonstration against a redundancy employment scheme (ERE), affecting 1,250 workers, or 30% of the workforce and the closure of plants in Fuenlabrada (Madrid), Palma de Mallorca, Alicante and Oviedo. Striking Coca-Cola workers in Spain today rejected a proposed layoffs deal by the US drinks giant, demanding it abandon factory closures which they say threaten nearly 1,200 jobs.
