MARSHALLS-FLOOD-CLIMATE

A woman clears the debris at Majuro Atoll in the Marshall Islands on March 3, 2014, after a king tide coupled with storm surges causing widespread flooding and damaging homes. Officials in the Marshall Islands blamed climate change on March 5, 2014, for severe flooding in the Pacific nation's capital Majuro which has left 1,000 people homeless. Climate change is a major concern for Pacific island states such as the Marshals, Kiribati and Tuvalu, where many atolls are barely a metre (three feet) above sea level and risk being engulfed by rising waters.
