Leaders of rival militias responsible for a brutal cycle of death and revenge killings in the Central African Republic have vowed to work for peace in an unprecedented meeting, state radio reported on March 6. The Central African Republic has been rocked by a year of sectarian violence between majority Christians and the Muslim minority, prompting the deployment of some 8,000 French and African peacekeepers.
